High school students learn about trades at expo

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) – An impressive show on the floor of the Fargodome today and it had nothing to do with the Bison.

Trade experts from around the region attempted to lure the interest of high school freshmen through hands on displays.

More than 800 area students took part in the 11th annual Health, Tech and Trades Career Expo.

The fields represented are among those projected by the Wall Street Journal to be the fastest growing in the coming decade, when most of the students hope to enter the workforce.

Emma Glogoza/9th Grader at Davies High School: ” I’m looking for something that helps people or helps animals and as long as I’m having fun doing it and I’m not tired of my job, I don’t really care the amount that I get paid. ”

Fifty million new and existing jobs will open within the next decade as the baby boomer generation begins to retire.
